#EKUSummer boasts a pretty great selection of classes. But, students always have their favorites. These ten fascinating courses had the highest enrollment in summer 2018. Consider trying one this summer — particularly if you need it as a required course or gen ed. (These classes fill up fast in summer, but even faster in spring and fall!)

10. MGT 301: PRINCIPLES OF MANAGEMENT

Learn how businesses are run! This non-business major section of principles of management is often required for business minors, and majors like health services administration and sports management. It enrolled 33 students in summer 2018.

9. CDF 232: IDENTITY AND SEXUALITY

CDF 232 is a popular option for students to fulfill their diversity gen-ed requirement any time of year, but last summer, 53 students took the course. Spend your summer learning to foster positive personal development.

8. PSY 308: ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY

Dive headfirst into the psyche this summer! A required class for many psychology majors, Abnormal Psychology promises to be a captivating course. Just ask any of the 59 students who took it online last summer!

7. POL 101: INTRO TO AMERICAN GOVERNMENT

We the people, in order to form a more perfect union… you’re singing the song, aren’t you? Sing it all summer while fulfilling your gen-ed historical perspective or social and behavioral science requirement! Join the ranks of the 72 students who took POL 101 last summer in learning about our democracy.

6. VTS 200: INTRO TO VETERAN STUDIES

A unique yet little-known course offering, VTS 200 educates students on the needs and perspectives of military veterans. The 75 online students who took the course last summer can vouch for its awesomeness. Take it to add a Veteran Studies minor or certificate, an option unique to EKU, or fulfill your diversity gen-ed requirement!

5. AFA 202: THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN EXPERIENCE

This engaging course guides students through the elements that have shaped the experiences of the African American community in the United States. Enrolling 86 students last summer, this class is the perfect way to start an African American Studies minor or certificate, or to fulfill your diversity gen-ed requirement.

4. PHI 130: BEGINNING ETHICS

Last summer, 89 students enrolled in online sections of this basic PHI 130. This basic philosophy course helps students weigh important questions of right, wrong, and personal choice. Not just for philosophy majors and minors, the class also counts as a humanities gen-ed credit.

3. STA 215: INTRO TO STATISTICAL REASONING

Required for a variety of majors from business to biology, it’s no wonder this course makes the list! Fulfill your mathematics gen-ed requirement and join the 90 students across all campuses who took this course in summer 2018.

2. GEO 210: INTRO TO PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY

This class rocks… literally! Intro to Physical Geography affords a student lots of options; it can count as a natural sciences gen-ed, an elective for a GIS major, a core course for a geology major, or toward a geography minor or GIS certificate. That may be why it boasted a whopping 145 students enrolled last summer.

1. CMS 100: INTRO TO HUMAN COMMUNICATION

Nearly every first-year student at EKU has to take this essential course; it fulfills gen-ed element 1C: Oral Communication. Learn the art and science of interpersonal communication along with the 165 students who took the class on-campus and online last summer!
